Summer Bummer

Summer decided this year to show up unfashionably late. We had about, oh I dunno, 2 weeks of super hot days.I was really disappointed because I was looking forward to the usual summer nights and sleeping with my door open. Not this year. This year if I wanted the door open while sleeping I had to wear sweats or layer on the winter blankies. I was still able to wear shorts most of this season but some days I was freezing my hiney off.  Hopefully next year Summer will learn from her mistake and show up on time.

The Beauty that is IKEA

Yesterday I decided it was time for some new furniture(bed, dresser, wardrobe). I took a field trip to IKEA. Oh that endless maze that it is. After about 30 minutes I decided on this 

 Looks fairly easy right. Especially since the furniture is supposed to be super easy to build. ERRR....Wrong! My Friend Kc & I sat looking at the various pieces scratching our heads. We tried and failed miserably. There are screws that need to be put in and just a regular screwdriver and some elbow grease will not do. I'm going to arm myself with a power tool thingie(don't know what they are called) and go to town. I shall prevail!

Busy, busy, busy

 I've been super busy these past few weeks. Trying to spend as much time with Michael as possible. As I've mentioned before he leaves for 2 months this Saturday:( Not looking forward to it at all. We're gonna go check out Despicable me Saturday morning and then take a little trip to little Tokyo and grab lunch. Hopefully I'll have lots of time on my hands to update my blog.

Back to reality....

So after a wonderful weekend in San Francisco I'm back home. I LOVED it. Everything about it. The weather, the people, the food, the landmarks. It was awesome and amazing. But like all good things it had to come to an end. We visited Fishermans wharf, Ghiradelli square(Love their chocolate) and took a tour around San Francisco. Unfortunatly we didn't do much else because of time restrictions, but I will be going back.

Weekend road trip....

To San Francisco. I'm uber excited. Except for the fact that I get to drive thru the night for about 8 hrs while everyone else sleeps. Either way I'm stoked. I haven't been to SF for close to 20 yrs. I'm looking forward to visiting Chinatown, the Golden Gate bridge and all the other cool things there are to see. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend and I'll post up pictures on Tuesday:)

Dating and the single mom....

So I've had terrible luck with men for the past oh I don't know....8 years. I've had one live-in boyfriend and 3 other disasterous relationships. I did the online thing and that didn't work out too well. This Friday I have a date with a guy I met thru a mutual friend. He's super sweet and we've been facebook buddies for 2 yrs and have met on 2 occasions. I'm really excited and nervous. His only issue is that he's younger than me. I'm 27 going on 28 and he's 25. We'll see how it goes. Wish me luck!

This was a pre-school picture and he was in the middle of practicing his name. Please excuse the pinkness of the room. We first thought we were having a girl so my mom re-did the room in pink. I have since changed it to blue.

Well for me at least. We drove out to Bridgeport for a mini photoshoot. My good friend Jaimie photographed Michael and I this afternoon. I'm super shy and not really all that great when the focus is on me but she made me feel super comfortable. I loved it. Michael...not so much. He was just super bored and annoyed. Hopefully the pictures come out semi-decent and I'll post up a few on here.

Mikey turned 9 today. I can't believe 9 years ago today I was giving birth to my handsome little man. I still remember that day as if it were yesterday. I remember my breath literally caught in my throat when I first saw him, the feeling of joy when I first held him and the tears that rolled down my cheek when I kissed him. I felt and still do feel complete. We have our rough patchs here and there with our Mother, Son relationship but as with any healthy relationship it should happen. Can't wait for the joys, trials and tribulations the following years will bring.

Mikey's Birthday weekend extravaganza.......

My munchkin is turning 9 years old on Saturday. & still to this day I still can't believe I'm a MOM. To top it all off I found my first gray hair a few days ago. Why me I ask? Apparantly I'm growing old. I'm not happy about this, but it's the way life goes I guess.

Enough about my age issues....I have so much planned out for my little munchkin. I'm gonna go out and buy him a nintendo DSI, which I'm gonna give to him on Saturday morning after I wake him up with a cupcake. Then off to Chuck E. Cheese and we are gonna end it with some Dodger dogs at the Dodger stadium. Hopefully he will have all sorts of fun. Maybe I'll even take him to Disneyland on Sunday.

That little line was probably the funniest thing ever in "Shrek: The final Chapter". Such a hilarious movie. I'm a fan of the 1st Shrek movie but all after that sucked. Until this last one. OMG! I could not stop laughing. Thankfully on Tuesday's night there is no crowd. Which is kinda surprising since it is LA Live. Super packed all the time. So this movie is a must see. Gonna miss him terribly...

My baby(don't let him catch me calling him that in public) is leaving this weekend. He's going to spend Memorial day weekend with his Dad. Eh...not that long right? Wrong! The realization of how close it's getting for him to leave for a whole 2 month period hit. What sucks about him leaving for his summer vacation is that I can't just drive over to his dad's to pick him up for a movie date, since his dad lives in Utah now. Super duper far, I know. I should already be used to his summer absence since he has been doing it for about 3-4 years, but it's something I can never really get used to. Time to start booking summer activities for me to do...What to do????

"Where's that water coming from.....

You're crying" That's exactly what was going on with me while I was watching "Grey's Anatomy" Yes I know, I'm a night late. I was at Sheckys girls night out(more about it later) while this amazing season finale was being recorded on my DVR. This was by far the best greys season finale. From the 1st shooting(Reed) to the incredible speech Dr. Weber gave Mr. Clark. I was in complete stunned silence. I'm really looking forward to next season.

Now, on to Shecky's Girls Night Out. Amazing fun with my favorite person(besides Mikey). It's an event where a bunch of local vendors(unknown) get together to show their products. There was everything from Jewelry, Make-up, lotions, Wine(yum), Clothes and some other misc. stuff. Everything they were selling was on Sale. A purse that apparantly normally is $50.00 I got for $20 smackaroos. AMAZING right? Needless to say I'm gonna be going back next year. The cool thing about it was that I got a gift bag. I hear gift bag and i think "Okay some small samples". Boy did they prove me wrong. There was a bunch of non sample size samples. Two bodywashes, a venus razor, VEET, Lotions galore, Soft Lips.....I could go on with all the endless things I got in that gift bag. Good deed for the day.....

After recieving the devastating news last night that my favorite aunt died, my day was looking to be pretty crappy. So this morning an elderly couple with their son come into the office, and when he was helping his mom out of the car, he accidently locked his car keys in there. So he asks if I had a clothes hanger so he can try to open up his door. Normally I'd say no and go about my day(yes I'm a b*tch at times). But I decided to call AAA and have them come out and open up his car. He tried to give me money for helping him out but of course I wouldn't accept it. It's crazy how doing one good thing for someone changes your whole outlook on your day and it lifts your spirits.

Ready to get carried away again.....

I know I am! I've already pre-purchased my tickets to this fabulous movie. I can still remember watching the 1st episode when it premiered. I was still in high school. I strived to be just like Carrie. Of course things didn't pan out as planned, but I still adore her character. So now I'm super duper excited for this second installment. How many other blogger Mommies enjoy SATC as much as me?

Now we're stuck with the white cups.......

"Huh?!?" was my response to Mikey's weird remark upon waking up this morning. I thought maybe he was still dreaming. So I ask him what he's talking about. "I was supposed to cut 2 water bottles in 1/2 for a science project". Guess who he blames it on that it didn't get done. ME!!!!!! Apparently it's my fault for going to the gym at 8pm. He had a 3 hr window to tell me "Hey Mom I have to do Blah, blah, blah". But no...He decides he's going to come home and sit on the computer(Homework gets done while in the after school program). Of course here comes mom to the rescue. After taking Stewie(our Maltipoo) out for his morning bathroom break I go thru our recyclables. YAY! I found 2 plastic water bottles. I cut them and stuck them in a plastic bag. Hmmmm....I wonder if he remembered to put it in his backpack?

Why does everything have to be a competition?

This morning Mikey decides that we are gonna compete over who has the cleaner mouth after brushing. Mind you I currently wear braces. So I said okay I'll play your game if that means your teeth are gonna be brushed. How are we supposed to determine whos mouth is cleaner, you ask? We used this nifty little mouthwash.

I love it! After he sits there for a minimum of 3 minutes brushing his teeth, he uses it and gunk still comes out. So I told him to please move over and watch how a pro does it. I did my usual brushing with my own mouthwashes. When I went to use the smart rinse, he gives me his best teasing voice and says "Bring it on Momma". Needless to say, I brought it. No gunk whatsoever. I loved his response to it "Wow! Clean as a whistle." My prize to this was to brush his teeth:) Let's hope this doesn't become an every morning routine.

Farewell to you.....

Oh why do you have to leave me after only 2 seasons. Yes it only lasted 2 seasons. I looked forward to you every Monday night. My son, of course, is estatic about not having to deal with watching it anymore. He actually jumped for joy. Oh well, I hope they make next weeks episode  as amazing as all other episodes and they leave no loose ends.

Monday blues.....

After enjoying a sunfilled weekend, I woke up to a gloomy Monday. No hope for sun today. This type of weather always makes me want to curl up on my comfy couch with my favorite blanket and watch old movies on TCM. Hmmm...I should maybe fake an illness? Nah I'm not a great liar. Why, O why did I agree to going to Chuck E. Cheese's today? Hopefully this yucky weather will get better as the day progresses. We'll just have to wait and see.

The start of a new adventure...

So after much thought, I've decided it's time I enter the blogging world. It's a phenomenon that's taken the world by storm. I'm a few years late though. Better late than never I always say. I'll blog about the joys of being a mom to an amazing 8 yr old boy and my everyday life. Soooo....let this journey begin:)
